CANALSS
Canalss is a recording project for Floridians who hate the sun. Delivered with sarcasm and deadpan, Canalss’ lyrics are about places lived and people loved. Instrumentals created between the bounds of drum machines, MIDI patches, and guitar noodling bring to mind a haunted department store, with the contents of the iPod you had in middle school playing through its sound system. Canalss is influenced by the likes of Leonard Cohen, SSRIs, sitting in traffic, and sleepless nights. He is currently located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

CANALSS - DONE SLEEPING
Done Sleeping, the sophomore album by South Florida-based singer-songwriter Canalss, is a labor of love. It was recorded in DIY-fashion at Canalss’ parents’ home in the suburbs of Fort Lauderdale and his apartment in Miami. The album features drum machine-driven, synth-heavy tracks. These sounds intersect and clash hauntingly with punk insolence and the earnest sadness of America’s finest folk songs. All of this is projected through the hazy and high-UV delirium of South Florida’s harsh climate and rapid gentrification. Done Sleeping is one music geek’s take on getting older, falling out of love, and trying to make sense of a senseless world.
